About This Project

Building 3 is one of the oldest buildings on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. This project will renovate approximately 72,000 gross square feet and includes installing new electrical, mechanical, plumbing and telecommunication services, new fire/life safety systems and upgraded energy efficient lighting. It also abates hazardous materials, replaces the existing roofing system and will include the installation of two new accessible elevators.

This $26.9 million project also consists of installing state-of-the-art Learning Centered Technology Initiative equipment in all instructional classrooms and classroom labs. The building’s original 1957 constructed exterior façade will undergo a rehabilitation that will include all glazing and window frame replacement with an energy efficient window system. An energy efficient air conditioning system will be installed.

Sustainability Benefits for this project include: a new window / low “e” glazing system, a connection to the campus chilled water system, an energy efficient lighting systems, a ‘cool-roof’ TPO system, an upgrade electrical service from the campus’ high voltage 12KV service, an efficient HVAC system, installation of exterior sunshades and the building’s men’s restrooms will be plumbed for a future retrofit of waterless urinals.
