About This Project

The scope of the Energy Efficiency HVAC Retrofit for Music Building 24 is to convert the constant volume, double duct, air handling unit, SA-3/RA-3, into a variable air volume (VAV), double duct air handling unit. With this approach, this air handling system will operate as a VAV system in that cold and hot air will not need to be mixed anymore, except when code minimum air flows are reached. Each zone will generally either call for heating or cooling, and the air flow to that zone will be varied to satisfy thermal need. The supply fan and return fan, provided with new variable frequency drives (VFDs) will slow down or speed up to deliver only the amount of air needed to satisfy load.
