This regional American Red Cross facility is the first public/private partnership project within the 65-acre Innovation Village. The facility is being constructed on a 15-acre parcel in the northern portion of the Innovation Village, with an option for future development on an adjoining 4-acre site. The facility will consist of a 2-story building with approximately 190,000 square feet of space that will accommodate approximately 60,500 square feet of laboratory space, 87,200 square feet of administration offices, 34,000 square feet for materials management, a 7,000 square-foot donor room, and 628 surface parking spaces. Extensive landscaping, including berms landscaped with trees, to buffer the facility from nearby uses, are included as part of the project site design. If American Red Cross exercises its option for the adjoining 4-acre site, an approximate 60,000 square-foot American Red Cross National Testing Laboratory will be constructed as part of the facility with an approximate 290 parking spaces. Although the University is not responsible for the construction of the facility, it will be providing construction inspection services.
