Cal Poly Pomona’s Drinking Water to Contain Additional Fluoride
Commencing November 12, 2007, the treated drinking water received from Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) will contain additional fluoride. MWD is initiating fluoridation across their entire Southern California service area.
All drinking water naturally contains some fluoride. Fluoridation is the process of adjusting the naturally occurring fluoride to the optimal level for preventing tooth decay. MWD developed its fluoridation program in accordance with California law.
State regulations require a public notification process whenever a water system initiates fluoridation.
