The FMAM Department helps arrange internships with food and agribusiness firms located in the Los Angeles and Southern California area. Internships provide hands-on, practical experiences for students enrolled in the program. The internship usually lasts at least ten weeks with approximately 20 hours of work a week. A detailed evaluation form needs to be filled out by the interns supervisor at the end of the internship. The student completes an assigned paper at the end of the internship and is then given a letter grade for the 3 unit class. Many companies extend the job past the internship after the ten weeks. Students are expected to demonstrate good work ethics to include punctuality, team work, attitude, and job completion. Students receive 3 units of credit for FMA 441- Internship in Food Marketing and Agriculture. Students are encouraged to complete at least one internship and many complete two. Many of the internships have resulted in full-time jobs for students after their graduation.
