| Exam and Quiz | There will be no make-up exams or quizzes unless under emergency conditions. Exams and quizzes are generally closed-book and closed- notes. Exams are based on project, homework, discussions in the class, supplementary notes, handouts, and the text book. Final exam is not comprehensive except for the material from early chapters that is used to develop topics. Quizzes are based on the concepts and will take about 5 minutes. Quizzes will be conducted at the beginning of each class as a mean for calling roll and students participation. Quizzes will be graded randomly. Please click here for sample exams and quizzes. |
| Project | During thr first week each student has to find a project and join a team. During the second week the team will submit the project proposal. The project proposal will have: 1:- a cover(title)page, 2:- a summary defining the project, how the project satisfies the requirements, 3:- a Gantt chart(a scedule of task-time) and 4:- either a sketck or a photocopy. The report should be typed and organized according to the requirements. Extra credit will be given to high quality work. Project is performed by a group of two to five students depending on the size and complexity. Please click here for project and expectations. |
| Homework | The purpose of homework is to assist you with gradual practice and learning during the quarter. The assigned homework is the minimum requirement for your practice on the course materials. Homework may be collected at the beginning of the class/lab session that is due. Late homework will not be accepted. Homework will be randomly graded based on your "effort" for completion. It is your responsibility to find your mistakes referring to discussions in class or during my office hours. Homework should be lettered legibly, clean, and organized. It is required that you collect all your homework and quizzes as a portfolio. |
Portfolio:
You are required to organize all (for bothgraded or not graded)
your homework, quizzes, and the first report on the project in
a three-hole binder. All homework should be clearly seperated
from each other. There should be a table of content listing
all the content of the portfolio in details. Imediately
after table of content, there should be your analysis of each
homework and your comments. In your analysis of each homework
you specify that which one of the objectives of this course has
been met. The last page of portfolio should be a comment
and suggestion page on the whole process of portfolio, its effect
on your learning and any suggestion. Comments and analysis
that demonstrate critical thinking of the student will receive
extra credits. Portfolio will be collected and graded on
the day of final and midterm exams.
