Dear colleagues,
We are happy to invite you to the 11th CSU Regional Symposium on University Teaching, and delighted to welcome you to Cal Poly Pomona. This is a chance for you to learn from, and to teach, colleagues across the CSU. These conferences have proven to be inspiring, energetic events that renew and invigorate the CSU's commitment to teaching.
The conference offers five topical areas, based in part on the feedback from the last CSU Regional Symposium:
We also have a "wild card" choice for sessions that don't fit these topical areas, so don't be shy about proposing a session.
We are excited about our keynote speaker, Dr. Barbara Millis, the director of the Excellence in Teaching Program at the University of Nevada-Reno. Barbara brings a wealth of experience in college teaching and in working with faculty in different institutions. As a special treat, Barbara is also giving an intensive afternoon workshop, "Designing Courses for Significant Learning" (based on the work of Dr. L. Dee Fink). Please plan to stay for this event; the cost is included in the conference registration free, so it's a real bargain!
If you attended in the past, we hope that you will consider joining us this year and even submitting a proposal for a session this year. Registration will open November 1, 2007. The deadline for proposing a session is February 1, 2008. The deadline for registering is March 1, 2008. Meanwhile, please save the date of April 12, 2008, for the conference.
For more information about the conference schedule, registration and fees, travel and lodging, and submitting a proposal, please look over our conference website. If you don't find the answer to your question, please email the staff of the Cal Poly Pomona Faculty Development Center . We are excited about hosting the CSU Regional Symposium on Excellence in Teaching, and we count on you to help us make it a success!
Sincerely,
Peggy Sears Perry
