Cal Poly Pomona faculty may request a classroom observation of their teaching through The Faculty Center. Classroom observation is a formative assessment technique that gives feedback to the instructor about what is happening in the classroom during the class session and provides an opportunity for the instructor to reflect on student learning and teaching practices in a safe environment.
Faculty requesting classroom observation will meet with the instructional consultant in a pre-observation meeting, will be observed in the classroom, and will discuss the classroom visit in a post-observation meeting. The suggestions offered by the consultant are advisory only, and no report or record of the consultation is retained. That is, no one besides the faculty member being observed, the consultant, and the FCPD director will be aware that a consultation has taken place unless the observed faculty member requests that another person be so informed.
If you want to learn more about classroom observation or want to schedule a classroom visit, please contact Dr. Victoria Bhavsar, Program Coordinator for the Faculty Center at vbhavsar@csupomona.edu or x4640.
