Faculty Learning Communities
Faculty learning communities are small, multidisciplinary groups of faculty who meet regularly for an extended time (one quarter to one year) to work on either a group project or individual projects. FLCs are not committees or task forces. Faculty generally produce scholarly work including new course designs, new syllabi, research papers, or proposals for future work as a result of their participation in FLCs. FLCs are highly effective in helping faculty explore new directions for their work and in producing collegial relationships and support for faculty at different career stages. The Faculty Center tries to provide a small stipend or other professional development funds for FLC participants.
