Therefore, the university is preparing for its first multi-million dollar comprehensive campaign. University Advancement uses only a small portion of the campus budget. Since we all know it takes money to raise money, raising more money will require an even greater commitment. For this reason, the university has enacted the following policy:A five percent campaign assessment will be received from all new cash and gifts when converted to cash. This assessment applies to all gifts received from January 1, 2009. The donor has the option of allowing this support to be taken from the earnings the gift generates before any disbursement is made or off the top of the gift. In some cases, the donor may choose to add the equivalent of five percent to the gift when it is given in place of assessing the gift after it is received. This assessment will not be taken on gifts-in-kind that are not converted to cash or in select cases where policies do not allow for this transaction.
