After Applying: Follow These Easy Steps For Success
#1 - Take the exams and placement tests as required

The EPT (English Placement Test) and ELM (Entry Level Mathematics) requirements are essential in your having a good start at Cal Poly Pomona. These exams establish your competencies and appropriate placement in courses. Check out the CSU application or the various flyers available. Web sites with information on these exams are also available as shown below. You may be exempt from the exams based on a number of considerations. You must meet the EPT and ELM requirements - make sure you find out how!

Educational Testing Service:

In addition to the ELM which is required by the CSU, Cal Poly Pomona has its own MDPT (Math Diagnostic and Placement Test). You will need this to begin your engineering mathematics courses. Flyers are emailed, but look at the Web as well:  http://www.csupomona.edu/~math or http://www.csupomona.edu/~math/students/elm/index.shtml

NOTE: Your test scores determine where you start in english and math, which will affect your length of time to graduate in engineering. Review test placement information online at: First Steps to Engineering Programs (.pdf)
