Core Training

Core Training
The Core Training is a two-week intensive course to give teachers an overview of the PLTW courses to be taught to middle school and high school students. The Core Training courses are taught by Project Lead The Way Core Training Instructors. Teachers from across California are invited to take advantage of the Project Lead The Way Summer Core Training at Cal Poly Pomona.

 

Schedule for Summer 2013 at Cal Poly Pomona:

  • Session I:   TBD
    DE (Digital Electronics)
    EDD (Engineering Design and Development)
    GTT - SPE (Gateway to Technology Specialization) includes the following:
      • Flight and Space
      • Science and Technology
      • Magic of Electrons
    POE (Principles of Engineering)

  • Session II:    TBD
    CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing)
    GTT (Gateway to Technology Foundation) includes the following:
    • Design and Modeling
    • Automation and Robotics
    • Energy and the Environment
    IED (Introduction to Engineering Design)


Registration Fees (Summer 2013 fees subject to change):

Includes lunch and parking
$2,500 per session
Late registration fee is $150 in addition to cost of session for registrations received less than 1 month before training start date.

Housing on Campus at Kellogg West Conference Center Lodge:
(optional; participants may choose to commute to campus each day)
Includes breakfast and dinner; no meals on weekend.
Private room with bath, tv, phone, and patio or balcony. Access to complimentary fitness center and pool.
$1,200 per session
$1,000 per session excluding weekend lodging


Cancellation:

  • Full refund if cancellation occurs 1 month prior to training start date.
  • Partial refund if cancellation occurs less than 1 month prior to training start date. Partial refund is the total cost minus a cancellation fee of $300.
  • No refund if cancellation occurs 1 week or less prior to training start date.

 

Core Training Photo Galleries

At Core Training, teachers learn how to use design software and work in teams to build their projects so that they can take what they learn back to their students in the classroom.

In the Gateway To Technology, teachers use Fischertechnik kits to create a working assembly line.
