New Features in Blackboard 9

Blackboard has released Version 9 with many new and improved features.  And Cal Poly Pomona will be upgrading our Blackboard environment to this new version, Bb9, starting in Fall in a limited, pilot test mode.  During the Fall 2009 and Winter 2010 Quarters pilot testing of Blackboard 9 will continue while most of the courses are taught in the current version. If all goes well with the testing, all courses will be migrated to the new version in time for the Fall 2010 Quarter. Please review “What’s New in Bb9” for a brief summary of the new features.

Getting Ready for Winter 2010 Quarter

Double-check your Winter 2010 courses in Blackboard 9
After November 3rd, 2009, please check to make sure your Winter 2010 courses have been auto-created in Blackboard 9. Your Winter 2010 courses should be listed under My Courses on the My Blackboard page. My Blackboard page is the first page you will see after you log in successfully.
If you cannot find your Winter 2010 courses in Blackboard 9, please contact the Help Desk at (909)869-6776.

Make sure your Winter 2010 courses are available
All the Winter 2010 courses that have been auto-created will be “unavailable”. This is to prevent any confusion if you decide not to use the course site. If you would like to use the course, please make the course available to your students.

No Need to Use the Course Request Form
Please note that after the quarterly maintenance, you do NOT need to fill out Blackboard course request form to request a new course site for Winter since all Winter 2010 courses will have been auto-created.

Export Course Materials from Bb 7 Course to a Bb 9 Course
You can export course materials from a Bb 7 course to a Bb 9 course yourself. If the Bb 7 course contains Content Collection fiels, you can request us to export the course materials, including the Content Collection files, to Bb 9 for you by using the LMS request form.
