Nominees for Governors & Employee Safety Awards for 2007

The annual Governor’s Employee Safety Awards (GESA) program is provided again this year to encourage employee safety awareness and to give recognition to individual employees or groups of employees who have made exceptional contributions to safety on the job in State service. The criteria for the award is as follows:

  • The employee(s) is/are NOT directly responsible for safety and health programs. Members of evacuation teams, safety and assigned committees are not eligible.

  • The teamwork or response to hazardous events or project completed is outside the employees' regular job duties.

  • The actions are taken during the course and scope of employment.

  • The action or project is completed in the indicated calendar year.

  • No other GESA award was received for this action.

Governor Schwarzenegger is committed to this safety awards program and he will sign the award certificates that will be presented to the selected employees.

The California State University has been allocated 24 individual or group safety awards. Our campus may nominate two individuals or groups for consideration. The names of the individuals you wish to have considered for these awards should be submitted to Environmental Health and Safety via the nominee’s line organization, by March 7, 2008 using the nomination form. When submitting your nominations, please include the following information on the form:

  • Specific examples of each nominee’s contribution(s) to campus safety.

  • Any statistics that may support the nominee’s contribution(s) to campus safety.

  • Examples of safety-related materials or programs the nominee developed that resulted in the improvement of employee health and safety.
