VPN - Virtual Private Network

Step-by-Step Instructions to Connect to VPN - Mac OS 10.5

  1. From the OS X Finder:
    1. Click on the Apple menu.
    2. Select System Preferences.
    3. Select Network.
  2. Select your wireless network connection (e.g. AirPort).
    1. Click on the plus icon at the bottom of the screen to add a new network service.


  3. In the Network dialogue window:
    1. Select VPN for the Interface type.
    2. Select PPTP for the VPN type.
    3. Provide a name for the service (choose any name you like). For example, CPP VPN.
    4. Click Create.


  4. Select the newly created VPN network.
    1. Enter the server address: vpn.csupomona.edu.
    2. Enter your account name, which is your BroncoName.
    3. Select Automatic (128 bit or 40 bit) for the Encryption.
    4. Click on Authentication Settings.


  5. On the User Authentication window:
    1. Enter your network password.

      NOTE: This is NOT your email password (which is more commonly referred to as your BroncoPassword). To set your Network Password, see eHelp FAQs.

    2. Click OK.


  6. On the Network dialogue window, click on the Advanced button.
    1. Make sure the following option is NOT checked: “Send all traffic over VPN connection”.
    2. Click OK.


  7. Click OK or Apply from the Network dialogue window.
  8. Click on Connect.
  9. To disconnect from the CPP VPN connection, select "Disconnect CPP" from the VPN status icon located
    at the top of the screen.


  10. To reconnect, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Network > VPN.
