Selected Technical Staff Software

In addition to the software programs available to faculty and staff, the following software programs are also available to Selected Technical Staff.

Note: The following software programs require access authorization for downloading.

Access:

The software is available to faculty and staff for on-campus use only. The license DOES NOT include home use. Software can only be installed by a local campus technician responsible for the given machine.  Campus techs can contact the Help Desk at X6776 for available licenses.

Additional information: Software can be obtained by providing a state account number to charge back to your department.

Access:

The university currently has a site license for various Oracle products. The software can only be used on campus and CANNOT be used at home by students, staff or faculty.

Software can only be installed by a local campus technician responsible for the given machine.

Campus techs can contact the Help Desk at X6776 for available licenses.

Note: In almost all cases, users will need only the client version of Oracle. If you download from Oracle's page, be sure to understand that you want the client software. If you think you need the server version, contact the assigned technical support personnel in your department or college.

Additional information: If you are a Campus Technician and you need to run a server hosting an Oracle database, contact Bev Geuting (909.979.6348 or bevg@csupomona.edu) to obtain authorization.

Ghost

Version: Ghost Solution Suite
Access:

The software is available to specific technical staff only. The license DOES NOT include home use. Campus techs can contact the Help Desk at X6776 for available licenses.

Additional information: Ghost Solution Suite is a disk copying program for Win95, WinNT and OS/2. The entire contents of a disk may be copied from one disk to another, or copied to a disk image file, and that image file can be used as a template to create copies of the original disk.

AccVerify and AccRepair dramatically reduce the time required to build, test and repair your website content for accessibility, site quality, searchability and privacy issues.

Retrospective

Version: Retrospect 6.5
Access: The software is available to specific technical staff only. The license DOES NOT include home use. Campus techs can contact the Help Desk at X6776 for available licenses.
Additional information: Retrospect 6.5 is designed to make backing up as secure and easy as possible. The Professional edition lets you back up two PCs and has a wealth of improvements. It now supports a wide range of backup including tape drives, hard disks, Zip drives and CD/DVD recorders. However, it has been reported that there was some trouble getting Retrospective working with a Desktop PC's CD-RW, although it works fine on a notebook PC.

Sassafras KeyServer
Licensing: Specific Technical Staff

Version: Sassafras KeyServer
Access: The software is available to specific technical staff only. The university currently has one client license available for on-campus use. The license DOES NOT include home use. Campus techs can contact the Help Desk at X6776 for available licenses.
Additional information: KeyServer, developed by Sassafras Software, addresses the issue of legal software use and other software control concerns without introducing new obstacles for either vendor or user. KeyServer runs as a central network service that enforces usage limits for all applications regardless of whether copies are stored on individual computers or on one or more network file servers. KeyServer simultaneously supports all license models from concurrent use to one-machine/one-install or dedicated. KeyServer can be made to protect, meter, schedule and control every program on a network, even those programs installed without the administrator's knowledge or permission. In addition to performing as a software license server, KeyServer can also be used to enforce software version consistency throughout a network.

WinZip
Licensing: Specific Campus Faculty and Staff

Version: WinZip 11.1
Access:

A limited number of WinZip licenses are available to faculty and staff. The software may be used at home if the home computer is used for university-related business.

Software can only be installed by a local campus technician responsible for the given machine.  Campus techs can contact the Help Desk at X6776 for available licenses.

Additional information: WinZip is a file archiver and compressor for Microsoft Windows. It natively uses the PKZIP format but also has various levels of support for other archive formats.
