McAfee
Licensing: Faculty and Staff
Operating System: Windows; Macintosh
Version: Virus Protection Software; The following virus protection software products are provided under the licensing agreement:
  • ePolicy Orchestrator - Console to manage and distribute from server to server and server to client NAI and Norton products.
  • Virus Scan - Used on DOS, Windows, and OS/2 workstations.
  • Virex Virus Scan - Used on Macintosh workstations.
  • NetShield - Server Protection for Windows NT and NetWare.
  • GroupShield - For DOMINO and MS Exchange.
  • WebShield - Virus protection for Solaris and SMTP.
Access: The university has a license with Network Associates (NAI) for virus protection software for workstations and servers. The license includes upgrades, monthly virus signature updates (dat files) and online technical support. The license agreement comes with a home use option allowing faculty and staff to load VirusScan software onto their home workstations.

Adobe Products
Licensing: Faculty and Staff Campus-Owned Machines
Operating System: Windows; Macintosh
Version: License covers Acrobat 7.0 and 8.0.
Access: License covers Acrobat 7.0 and 8.0, and is available for download when proof of license purchase is presented from the user's department.

Departments may purchase their own media disk for $25. Or, they may download upon approval for access via the Help Desk when proof of license purchase is presented.

Currently, through the Chancellor's office, the CSU has a "CLP" contract with Adobe to purchase all Adobe software products through ASAP software at reduced pricing. Campus departments or technicians wishing to obtain original software media or other Adobe products may purchase them through our Campus Select 6 Agreement from ASAP Software. Submit a Help Desk ticket or stop by the I&IT Help Desk. The I&IT Help Desk is located in Building 1, Room 100. It is open Monday - Thursday, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM and Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (excluding state holidays).

 

 

Microsoft Office Professional
Licensing:

Version: The desktop products that have been licensed through Dec. 31, 2008, are:

Note: Office Professional encompasses the following programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher.

Access:

Software can only be installed by a local campus technician responsible for the given machine.  Campus techs can contact the Help Desk at X6776 for available licenses.

The Campus Agreement provides licensing of specific Microsoft desktop applications, server technologies and Client Access Licensing (CAL) to faculty and staff members (including officially recognized Auxiliary Organizations). Microsoft does not include retired (Emeritus) faculty and staff in the current licensing agreement. Along with the licensing, the CSU also receives Microsoft Software Assurance which covers the products for any new releases that come out during the three-year term of the contract. Work-at-home (WAH) provisions are also included in the Campus Agreement for faculty and staff.

Access: A limited number of Mac OS licenses are available to faculty and staff for on-campus use only.  Software can only be installed by a local campus technician responsible for the given machine.  Campus techs can contact the Help Desk at X6776 for available licenses.

The University currently participates in the Apple Maintenance Program (AMP). AMP provides education customers the ability to upgrade to Mac OS 10.x and to stay current with OS 10.x releases.  All campus owned computers with confirmed campus software licenses are eligible for upgrades.

Secure File Transfer Protocol Software

 

 

 

Fugu
Licensing: Faculty; Staff; Students

Version: Fugu 1.2.0
Access:

Fugu is an open source Mac OS X front-end for Open SSH's SFTP client developed by the University of Michigan's Research Systems Unix Group (RSUG). It is a graphical shell for OpenSSH tools that provides a simple interface to all their features.

Additional information:

SSH is a terminal program that utilizes encryption to ensure that your password and all data sent and received during your session are kept safe. In order to secure the network, we are encouraging users to use encrypted protocols such as SSH to log into computers and transfer files between them.

  2. Fugu (Graphical SSH Application)

Statistical Programs

 

Mathematica
Licensing: Faculty; Staff; Retired (Emeritus) Faculty and Staff

Version: Mathematica 6.0.3
Access:

Currently, through the Chancellor's Office, we are participating in a Multi-Campus Academic Mathematica Site License for campus-wide use on CSU-owned computers.

Faculty and staff who are using Mathematica through the site license are eligible to receive their own personal home-use license. These home-use licenses can be installed on their personally-owned machines. Each individual approved for a home-use license is issued a unique license number and sent a single-machine version of Mathematica media for the platform requested. Each home-use license expires annually in conjunction with CSU's campus site license. There is no work at home provision for students.

To receive discounts off standard price of Wolfram Education Group classroom based courses, you need to mention our site license number when registering.

SPSS

Version: SPSS 14, SPSS 15, SPSS 16
Access:

The current license includes on-campus use, labs and office computers, and extends to all faculty and full-time staff for home use. The current license does not include students' home use.

  • SPSS for Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP – 1 CD available (also available as a download in the Winlicense folder)
  • SPSS for Macintosh - 1 CD available (also available as a download in the Licensed MAC OS Software folder)
Additional information:

SPSS is a comprehensive system for analyzing data. SPSS can take data from almost any type of file to generate tabulated reports, charts, plots of distribution and trends, descriptive statistics and complex statistical analyses.

SPSS will not support the PowerPC chip in their next product, SPSS 17.0 for Mac, which is scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2008. Most Apple computers now rely on Intel chips. Since August 2006, Apple Inc. has released computers that run on Intel chips instead of PowerPC chips.
