LDAP Instructions: Outlook 2002 (Outlook XP)

  1. Open Outlook and go to Tools > Email Accounts
  2. Select "Add a new directory or address book", click Next
  3. Mark "Internet Directory Service (LDAP)", then click Next
  4. For server name type in "ldap.csupomona.edu", then click on "More Settings"
  5. When the "Add E-mail Account" window appears click on OK
  6. In "More Settings" click on the "Search" tab, at the bottom of the window under search base enter "dc=csupomona,dc=edu". Then click OK.
  7. Then the "Directory Service (LDAP) Settings" will appear again and click on Next.
  8. Then click on Finish when the following window appears.
  9. Finally close Outlook by going to File > Exit, then open Outlook again and you can use the new Cal Poly Pomona LDAP Directory Service.
  10. To use the new Cal Poly LDAP go to Tools > Address Book. The Address Book window will appear and select "ldap.csupomona.edu" in the "Show Names form the" drop down box. Then click on the Find Items button.
  11. The "Find" window will appear and you can enter information such as "Last Name". At the bottom of the window you can also select to search by "Begins with" or "Contains" options. Click OK to search.
  12. To send a message to a person who appears in the search, highlight their name from the search list and then click on the "New Message" button.
  13. To see more detail about a person such as their room location or phone number, double click on their highlighted name. Click on OK to close the "Properties" window and return to the "Address Book".
