New Employee Account Claiming, Payroll Sign-Up Process

Overview

These step-by-step instructions are meant to guide new Cal Poly Pomona employees (faculty and staff) through the BroncoIdentity account claiming process.  This document provides three sections: steps for Tenure-track faculty, steps for all other new state employees, and one set of instructions for the BroncoIdentity Account Claiming Process, which is to be used by all.

NOTE: These instructions do not apply to student assistants as they will use their existing BroncoNames and BroncoPasswords.

Tenure-track faculty

After you have signed and returned your offer of employment from Cal Poly Pomona, Faculty Affairs will provide a Personal Data form and an Information Access and Confidentiality form along with instructions for completion of the forms. Return the completed forms to Faculty Affairs. Faculty Affairs will then submit your faculty appointment letter and the completed forms to Payroll Services for processing. 

Payroll Services will inform the Division of Instructional and Information Technology (I&IT) when your appointment has been entered.  I&IT will mail you a letter providing your unique BroncoNumber and Claim Code.  Additionally, they will provide information about I&IT services in support of learning, including the faculty laptop program.

When you receive your BroncoNumber and Claim Code, return to this eHelp page and follow the steps in the BroncoIdentity Account Claiming Process Instructions section below.

You must appear in person at Payroll Services to complete the sign-up process. To complete the new hire sign-up process, go to Human Resources and Payroll Services - Customer Service in Building 98, B1-20. You will be provided with information on how to obtain your Bronco Access Card, parking decal and other general new employee information.

NOTE: For BroncoDirect Instructor or Advisor access, a PeopleSoft Student Administration System User Access Request Form must be completed, signed by you and the appropriate Department Chair or Director, and then submitted to the Student Administration Functional Implementation Manager for processing.   The form can be located at UserRequest .

Submit the completed PeopleSoft Student Administration System User Access Request Form  to:

BroncoDirect access is normally provided within two working days.

Other new state employees

If you are a new state employee, but are not a tenure-track faculty member, you will receive your BroncoIdentity Account Claiming information when you sign up in Payroll Services.

You must appear in person in Payroll Services to complete the sign-up process. Instructions for BroncoIdentity Account Claiming Process

If you have your BroncoNumber and Claim Code, the following instructions will be used to  complete the BroncoIdentity  account claiming process, wherein you will be asked to:

At the end of the BroncoIdentity Account Claiming Process, you will be provided with your BroncoName and will have created your BroncoPassword.  Your BroncoName (also known as username) and BroncoPassword (also known as password) will be used to log in to most of Cal Poly Pomona’s computing services. 

  1. Access Cal Poly Pomona’s Account Claiming process by using an Internet browser (such as Internet Explorer) to go to the following page: http://www.csupomona.edu/claimaccount/. Enter your nine-digit BroncoNumber and Claim Code. (As noted above, these should have been disclosed to you by Payroll Services. Contact Payroll Services if you have not received these.)
  2. Click “Continue.”
  3. After reading Cal Poly Pomona’s Appropriate Use Policy for Information Technology, click, “I accept the Appropriate Use Policy.”   You may want to print it out for future reference.
  4. Click “Continue.”
  5. Input the correct responses to the two identity-verification questions you are prompted to answer (the questions in the sample below may not be the same two questions as the ones you are asked).
  6. Click “Submit.”
  7. Click “Continue.”
  8. Select the number of secret questions (3 is the minimum and 5 is the maximum) you’d like to create as protection for your BroncoPassword by choosing that number from the drop-down list.
  9. Enter the appropriate number of questions (either by choosing from the list of questions provided or by entering your own) and the corresponding answers.
  10. Click “Continue.”
  11. Enter a BroncoPassword that meets the provided BroncoPassword guidelines, and repeat to ensure accuracy.
  12. Click “Continue.”
  13. The identity claiming process is complete when you reach the “Success!” screen.
  14. Print the page and keep a copy for your records.
