Introduction

Email Basics

Almost all Cal Poly Pomona email addresses are in the format username@csupomona.edu.

You can look up your email address with People Search (link opens in a new window).

Note: For the search parameters for People Search, select "exact match" and type your name as one word with an asterisk between your first and last name (e.g.: Billy*Bronco).

Cal Poly Pomona uses the Exchange server for mail messaging and associated activities for most of its constituents or users.

The Exchange Server is a mail server. It resides on a cluster of computers and receives and transfers email through a web application called Outlook Web Access (OWA). Most Exchange users will access the Exchange server via OWA. The Exchange server supports OWA and Microsoft Outlook with a proprietary protocol that makes available the hottest email features (see below), including inbox navigation, calendaring and much more.

Almost all Outlook users connect to the Exchange server using the Microsoft protocol. Although any email client can connect to the Exchange server, Microsoft Outlook is the primary email client used by most to connect to Exchange.

The Exchange Server can also receive and transfer email through email programs such as Entourage, Mac Mail or Thunderbird.

To get started accessing your email, go to Getting Started.

Modernize your next project with the integrated, streamlined tools in Microsoft Outlook. Enhance your email productivity by effectively managing email messages, contacts, schedules, notes, documents and more from one central location.
