Outlook 2003 IMAP: Setting Up and Accessing Group Mailboxes

Outlook 2003 - IMAP Connection for Group Accounts

Note: We are ensuring that our email is even more secure by supporting "Secure Socket Layer" (SSL) for our Webmail, POP, IMAP and SMTP servers.

If you need to send or receive email before completing configuration of your local email client, you can still access email through your web browser interface at:

https://exchange.csupomona.edu.

 

Note: This setup assumes that you already have an Outlook profile configured.

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Select: Tools from the top menu.
  3. Select: Email Accounts > Next.
  4. Select: Add a new email account.
  5. Server Type: IMAP > Next.



  6. Internet email settings (IMAP):
    1. Your Name: Name of the group
    2. Email Address: Group account email address
    3. Incoming mail server (IMAP): exchange.csupomona.edu
    4. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.csupomona.edu
    5. User Name: win\your BroncoName\Group Account Name
    6. Password: BroncoPassword
    7. Remember password is optional. If you would like the system to remember your password every time you log in, check the check box. If not, the check box empty.
    8. Click Next to continue.



  7. You will see your IMAP connection in the “All Mail Folders” pane.


  8. If you delete a message, it will cross the message out, but it will not permanently delete it unless you Purge Deleted Message.


  9. To purge deleted messages, Select Edit > Purge Deleted Messages.
