Discussion Board: Create a Forum

The Discussion Board is a communication tool that can be used to enhance a course Web site. Conversations are grouped in threads that contain a main posting and all related replies. The Discussion Board Forum page is the first page accessed when the Discussion Board link is clicked from the Instructor Control Panel. Here are the steps to create a forum.

From Control Panel

  1. Click on Discussion Boards link in the Content Area section.
  2. Choose a Discussion Board to open
  3. Click on Add Forum button.
  4. Fill in the Title and Description fields. Select the specific Forum Settings and Forum User Settings.
  5. You may select the to Grade either the entire forum or individual threads within the forum. Grading individual threads will allow you to give a separate grade to each student.
  6. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.
