Add Items to the Content Collection System

Each course receives a 50 megabyte course quota by default. This course quota is used to accommodate students’ assignments, test, and files. Each faculty member has an additional 20 megabytes available in the Content Collection. To make best use of space, we recommend faculty to use the space in the Content Collection to store the course files (PowerPoints, Syllabi, Assignment Descriptions, etc). From a Blackboard course, faculty will use the option of “Link to Content Collection” instead of “Attach Local File”. Please note that the 20 megabytes space in the Content Collection can be increased as needed.

For Blackboard Courses:

  1. Click the Content Collection tab.
  2. You will be automatically brought to the My Content section. Please upload your files here and not to the Course Content section.
  3. Click the Add Folder icon and create a folder for your course. Give it the same name as your course, such as Bb 101.
  4. Enter the folder by clicking its name.
  5. Click the Add Item button.
  6. Use the Browse button to search for the file on your local computer, select the file, then click OK.

Now that you have the file uploaded to your Content Collection, use the Linking to a Content Collection Item tutorial to give your students access to the file.
