Test Submission

Oftentimes Faculty have problems finding where students submitted their tests.

From the Control Panel:

  1. Go to Gradebook
  2. You will be presented with the list of students and the tests columns.
  3. In here it will show the test status of the student.

Gradebook Icons

Blackboard uses icons in the Gradebook to indicate the status of a particular assessment for a specific student. This help identify at a glance the status of the student assessment test. In many cases by clicking on these icons you can find additional information about what the icon means. It will also allow you to clear an attempt so that students can re-take the test if needed.

  1. - A dash icon: This shows that the student hasn't started taking the assessment and therefore, no grade has been assigned. By clicking on this icon, you can manually enter a grade for the student.
  2. ! An exlamation point icon: This indicates that the assessment has been attempted but requires the attention of the Instructor, TA or Grader before a grade can be calculated and displayed. This could mean that one of these two things occured:
    1. The assessment has been completed by the student but includes an essay question that needs to be evaluated and graded.
    2. The student exceeded the pre-set time limit for the assessment.
  3. A padlock icon: This indicates:
    1. A student has begun the assessment but has not yet clicked "Submit."
    2. It will also appear if the student experienced a network or a browser failure while taking the assessment and was unable to complete the assessment. If this was the case, you can click on the padlock icon and click "Clear Attempt" to reset the student's attempt and they can re-take the assessment again.
  4. ?A question mark: This alerts the instuctor that the student began to take the assessment more than three days ago but the student's attempt was never successfully submitted. The student may have experienced network or browser failure while taking the assessment and was unable to return to the assessment to continue. Note: If you wish to allow the student to re-take the assessment, you may click on the icon and click "Clear Attempt." This will erase the student's score in the Gradebook and will allow the student to take the test again.
  5. A check mark: This signifies that the student has successfully completed a survey or a non credit test.
  6. A score: This indicates the student has sucessfully completed a test and the results have been automatically graded.
