The mission of the Educational Leadership Program is to:
THE GOAL of the Program is to provide candidates with personal services and instruction comparable to any other institution of higher education. Furthermore, the Program is aligned to the California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (CPSELs) created by the Association of California School Administrators and the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) written by representatives from states and professional associations in 1994-1995.
The Conceptual Design for the Program calls for excellence in the delivery of instruction in the Tier I and Tier II programs as well as the Masters and the Ed.D. Programs.
Our Graduates will be assuming responsibilities that will impact the education of all students. Therefore, the Advisory Committee advocated the admission of only candidates who have been identified as sucessful classroom teachers and who reflect the qualities associated with superior educational leadership.
The Program Faculty will hold candidates to those standards. The Administrative Services Credential Program will prepare candidates to enhance the quality of education in the public schools.
In our efforts to develop a program that meets your needs and facilitates the best possible experiences, we are committed to the following:
COHORT MODEL - You will progress through the program in a cohort of peers who also aspire to be outstanding school leaders. As a professional learning community, you and your colleagues will be able to not only support one another as you progress through the program, but also to develop a network that will be helpful to your career as a school administrator;
CLASSES IN SCHOOLS - In most cases, you will be taking your courses at a school site in one of our partner districts. While this is not always possible, we attempt to put you close to the action (and close to the freeway, too); and
ONE-DAY PER WEEK - Our basic class configuration has been to offer face-to-face classes in the late afternoon and in the evening one day a week at a school site convenient to our students.
