| Step 1: START EARLY |
Step 2: Are you having trouble pinning down a topic? (a) Talk to your instructor (b) Talk to a librarian. We provide specialized research assistance.Contact the librarian who specializes in your topic area or come to room 2334 on the second floor in the library. The link provides email and phone information. |
Step 3: Use relevant databases to find articles and the Library Catalog for books about your topic. Need Help?
| Step 4: Make sure to keep a record of sources for producing your bibliography. For items we do not own, ask a librarian how to use Document Delivery (for articles and books) or LINK+ (for books only) to obtain the materials. These services are free to students, faculty and staff. When using Document Delivery most articles are usually obtained within 2-3 working days; books are usually received within 7-10 working days. Link+ requests usually take 2-e days. So heed Step 1 and start early. |
Step 5: Read, synthesize, and analyze material. Do the first writing of your paper.
| Step 6: Proofread your paper for clarity, typos, and grammar even if a spell checker is used. Place the paper aside for a while. Later proofread it again. Continue to work with the Writing Center. They can help with grammar, style, and readability. Make corrections and changes. |
