Club Managers Association of America
Cal Poly Pomona Student Chapter
The student chapter of Club Managers Association of America
(CMAA) exists for the betterment of continued education and networking
opportunities for students at California State Polytechnic University,
Pomona in the private club industry.
CMAA is the only national hospitality organization with student
chapters. CMAA furnishes the student chapters with a national
as well as a state liaison to provide guidance to the student
chapters. CMAA also provides funding to the students chapters
through awards for outstanding student chapters and scholarships.
Cal Poly Pomona is one of four national universities helping to
train the club industry through the Business Management Institute
(BMI). The student chapter plays host to club managers from
around the country four times a year through the mandatory BMI
program for club management certification.
Membership in CMAA entitles the students to attend monthly
meetings with our Southern California parent chapter at many local
clubs. The Cal Poly Chapter also provides a Mentorship Program
wherein the students are paired with a local club manager. This
one-on-one relationship is invaluable to the students who want
to learn about the club industry first hand and provides the ultimate
networking opportunity. The interest in the Mentorship program
by local managers outweighs the number of student members. Student
members that have recently graduated have found jobs in the industry
because of this program.
