The Collins School of Hospitality Management California State Polytechnic University, Pomona

 Students are required to complete eight hundred (800) hours of work experience in hospitality-related employment prior to graduation. Students may earn up to four hundred (400) hours credit for hospitality-related work experience prior to enrolling in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. Students are encouraged to gain experience in a variety of positions in the hospitality industry.

 For each hospitality related work experience the student must submit documentation. The documentation requirements are as follows:
1. A letter on company letterhead that indicates:
a. Name of student;
b. Types of duties;
c. Month and year employment began;
d. Month and year employment ended; and,
e. Total number of hours worked to date.
f. Please note that a performance evaluation is not necessary.
 2. The letter should be delivered to the following address:

 Positions that may qualify as part of a student's hospitality related work experience:
1. Any position in a hotel, restaurant, travel agency, catering company, contract foodservice, or hospitality consulting firm.
2. A foodservice position
A few examples of positions that do not qualify are as follows:
1. Work as a bank teller, in a hair salon, or as a bagperson at a grocery store.
