Welcome to my webpage! I have been teaching for the History and Interdisciplinary General Education (IGE) Departments at Cal Poly Pomona since 1999, and I was hired as an assistant professor IGE in 2005. A Cal Poly alumnus, I also hold degrees in history from UCLA and religion from Claremont Graduate University. I specialize in the social, cultural, and religious history of the Greek and Roman world through Late Antiquity with a focus on the rise of Christianity. My dissertation, “Houses of the Holy: Roman and Christian Domestic Piety in the Latin West, 100-600 CE,” examined popular notions of divine beings, sacred spaces, and the religious role of the family in the Roman domus. I have prepared and published articles on Greek and Roman history and religion, early Christianity, and college teaching. Among other projects, I am currently working on a book that examines household religion across cultures.

This webpage is designed to supplement my IGE courses, providing syllabi, links to relevant materials, and course message boards to foster more collaborative learning.
