Admission Requirements and Documentation

We are currently accepting applications for the new cohort to begin September 2013.

Three windows of Admissions have been established where completed applications will be reviewed and selected applicants invited for a personal interview:

  1. February 1, 2013
  2. March 15, 2013
  3. May 1, 2013

Step 1 - CSU System Application

Apply to the California State University system online by navigating to CSU Mentor. During that process, you will be asked to send your transcripts verifying your academic degrees.

Step 2 - Program Application

The following items must be submitted via email in PDF format to the Doctoral Studies admissions committee at EdD-Admissions@csupomona.edu

Please be sure your full name is on each submission.  When sending program application elements, please label each file with your last name followed by the item name as indicated below.  Once your application has been received, you will be sent an email with a link to the BroncoDirect webpage showing the status of your application.

Doctoral Student in Classroom
  1. PRIOR EDUCATION with TRANSCRIPT VERIFICATION - You must already have earned a baccalaureate degree and a master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in upper division (junior/senior year) and graduate study.

  2. GRADUATE RECORD EXAM (GRE) – If you took the GRE prior to August 1, 2011, submit your scores from three sections of the General Test; a score of 1000 or higher is recommended. Remember, this is a recommended score, not an absolute score. Scores cannot be older than five years from the date in which you plan to start the program.

If you have not taken the GRE or took it after August 1, 2011, please note that the test has changed and has a revised score scale. After November 2011, institutions will receive concordance information designed to help compare scores on the prior GRE General Test with the revised General Test.

  3. REFERENCE LETTERS - Provide three confidential letters of recommendation from professionals in the field attesting to both your leadership ability and scholarship potential.

  4. SUPPLEMENTARY APPLICATION – The supplementary application requires responses to several writing prompts as well as the submission of a current vita.

  5. INTERVIEW - Once your completed application packet has been received and the above elements have been assessed, top level candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview with the program admissions committee.
