I believe that my favorite of the stories that we have read is "Johnnieruth" by Kingston. It was so interesting to hear and practically see Johnnieruths' reaction when she saw the two lesbians kissing. It was so similar to my first encounter with those that have chosen that past. I remember asking my father about it and his reply was to pretty much always respect people for the choices that they make and understand that I can make any choice that I wish and he would always love me. Though I did'nt choose to go down that path, I did allow the experience, just as Johnnieruth did, free me from everyone elses experctations and who they want me to be. I began to think of who I wanted to be. So sorry mom I don't think I'll ever like to wear frilly pink dresses or wear lots of make-up, but I do like to get dressed up on occassion. But I will always prefer jeans, and horses to dolls.
