When I read this story I coulndt believe that guy could be so mean and so untactful towards the Japanese men. He kept trying to speak to them in Chinese when he knew the languages were different. After the class discussion, however, I felt a lot different about it. I realized that sometimes it is okay to not be so politically correct about everything in life. I thought taht knowing what a race a person is and what the preffered label was mean that I HAD to use this label and truthfully speaking, it could be quite stressful. Not one single label is accepted by all of the people in that specific group. Mexican-Americans dont all like to be called that. Some might prefer Chicano, Hispanic, Mexican or some other label. After reading this story, I felt that a huge boulder was lifted off my shoulders. I didn't have to think about what label to use I just go with my first instinct and go from there.
