You can also do the multi-lateral treaties and related organizations such as WTO, GATT, World Court, Kyoto Protocols, etc.

Assignment: Collect some materials on your organization: web site, publications, links, data on their activities. What is their mission? What kind of organization is it? Who are the participants, decision-makers, experts, and managers? What is their range and locations of activity? How long have they been around? Any particular philosophy or agenda? Any well-known personalities involved (e.g., Robert McNamara and World Bank)? Where do they get their funding?

The research you do on these topics will result in class contribution, oral or multimedia presentation, and a brief paper or report. The written report will be 3-5 pages in length (not including Works Cited) on each topic. You will observe the standard scholarly style traditions, which may be found at http://www.aaanet.org/pubs/style_guide.pdf and many other sites. The written reports are due on Dec. 1st in class. Your reports will be evaluated on the basis of clarity of expression, coverage of the questions and definitions mentioned above, explanation of particular aspects, and connection of topic to broad development issues, as we have been discussing them in class.
