Write a brief essay on the household, residential group, or family in which you grew up, including people who lived with you, whether you are related to them or not. Describe their kinship roles, tyical interactions, social/economic roles, relationships, and influence on you as you were maturing. How would you characterize this grouping of people? What are the main structures of kinship in your cultural traditions?

What are the power relations among your family, including your extended family? What are the social control mechanisms? What are the norms and values?

Also, diagram your family for four generations, using the technique shown in class. Label everyone with their kin type and kin term (in the language you use at home).
