Linux: Security and Usability, Hand-in-Hand

Tux

SWIFT will be presenting the use of Linux as a more secure operating system. Live CD's are a way of testing out a complete installation of Linux without altering the contents and configuration of your computer. We will use this Live CD feature to demonstrate the use of Backtrack as a security and penetration testing tool by highlighting many of its utilities such as nmap, metasploit, and aircrack. After completing this demonstration, we will demonstrate the use of Ubuntu as an alternative operating system for the general user by providing Live CD's to anyone who might be interested and helping them boot into the Linux system.

Backtrack:

BackTrack

BackTrack is the most top rated linux live distribution focused on penetration testing. With no installation whatsoever, the analysis platform is started directly from the CD-Rom and is fully accessible within minutes.
