1. What is the Clinical Practice portion of the techer preparation program?

Clinical practice is the culmination of the educational foundations, methodology, and field experience components of the teacher education program.

Clinical practice is a cooperative effort between school districts and Cal Poly Pomona University. All students are required to complete two quarters or blocks of clinical practice. Normally, the two blocks will be in different districts.

In the Multiple Subject program, one block will be a primary (K-3) placement and the other block an upper grade (4-6) placement.

In the Single Subject program, one block will be at the middle or junior high school level and the other block at the high school level. Normally, the two blocks will be in different districts. Also, Single Subject student teachers may be required to teach more than one grade level in their content area.  They must teach four periods of subject area.

In Education Specialist program, assignments are made based on the credential, either in a Mild/Moderate classroom or a Moderate/Severe classroom.

If you are on a Long Term Emergency Credential outside of our service area we will not be able to supervise you.
You will be required to complete a Courtesy Supervision Request Form to attach to your Clinical Practice Application requesting supervision from another CSU campus closest to your place of employment.

Remember, this is a courtesy request which means they will only be able to accommodate you if they have adequate supervision.
