Welcome to a new academic year. This year promises to be more successful than the last. The twenty-two thousand square foot expansion of the Collins School of Hospitality Management brings us new classrooms, administrative offices and new gathering areas for our students. The areas for students include a lounge and separate government and club room. Visitors to campus will notice the new Frank Family Courtyard and the two patio's-perfect for outdoor events and gatherings.
Construction on the two new buildings was completed November, 2001. These state-of-the-art facilities allow the School to continue providing our students with an education that utilizes the latest technology. The new buildings are completely wireless and have satellite and video-conference capabilities. Combining these facilities with our world-renowned faculty provides Collins School students with the best education available in California. While the Collins School continues to be ranked among the top ten hospitality programs in the nation, our goal is to be the best program in North America.
Looking to the future, we will continue to grow our student body size and recruit the best and brightest individuals to Cal Poly Pomona. Every year the Collins School grants more than $80,000 in scholarships to its students. As our enrollment increases, we look forward to increasing the number of scholarships we are able to grant. The continued growth of the student body at the Collins School will also allow us to meet the employment needs of the hospitality industry. The School is proud of its many corporate partners and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the hospitality industry.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite alumni, board members and industry professionals to come out to the Collins School and visit us. Take a tour of our new facilities and treat yourself to lunch or dinner at our student operated Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch. It is an exciting time at the Collins School and I am proud to be a part of it.
