Final Thesis Procedures
At the completion of your thesis defense a "Report of Culminating Experience" form will be signed by your committee. The form will then be submitted to the graduate coordinator and then the department chair. Pick up the signed form from the department office at step 4 and bring it with you to the Graduate Studies Office in Building 1 Room 229.
After the thesis committee signs the signature page of the thesis:
-
Fill out "Thesis Binding Instructions" form. Remember to order a copy for the department office and one for each of your committee members.
-
Take one copy of the thesis (and the binding instructions form) to the Thesis Reviewer in the library. You may call (909) 869-3076 (Library reference services) to make an appointment for the Thesis Reviewer to sign the Binding Instructions page.
-
Make copies of the thesis after the Thesis Reviewer has approved it. You will need: 2 copies for the library (including the original); 3 (or more) for your committee; 1 for the Computer Science Department; and any personal copies.
-
Pick up the signed Roport of Culminating Experience form from the CS department office.
-
Take all copies to the Graduate Studies Office, Building 1 Room 229. Use colored paper/dividers between copies and use post-it notes to indicate the two Library copies. Plan to do this by Monday of finals week. The exact deadline may be a day or up to a week later some quarters. You can check with the graduate coordinator as the time approaches, or visit the library's web page Master's Thesis Regulations. The deadline is listed for each quarter as "Last day to submit Thesis/Project to Graduate Studies Office."
Note that the Cashier's Office, which is one stop in the submission process, normally closes at 4 p.m. Therefore, you should plan your schedule accordingly. You must obtain a payment voucher from the Graduate Studies Office, go to the Cashier's Office to pay binding fees, and then return to the Graduate Studies Office with the payment receipt from the Cashier's Office before your thesis will be sent to the Bindery.
Each bound copy is $10.50. If a CD is included, an additional charge applies.
-
Your thesis advisor must submit a grade for 4 units of CS 696.
