Habitat 21 draws upon the extensive academic and professional resources of the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. These resources include the faculty and staff of nine Colleges, and a number of research centers. Key resources include:

John T. Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies

The John T. Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies is an interdisciplinary university-based setting for education, demonstration and research in regenerative and sustainable systems. The 16 acre site provides a living laboratory for faculty, students and visitors to study passive solar designed buildings, renewable energy capture, water recycling, nutrient cycling, food growing systems, aquaculture, native habitat and human communities.

The Center for Geographic Information Science/Systems Research (CGISR) serves as Cal Poly Pomona's hub for geospatial analysis. Supported by 4 colleges-Environmental Design, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and Science-- the CGISR facility hosts interdisciplinary GIS instruction, research and projects in disciplines such as geography and anthropology, urban and regional planning, landscape architecture, biology, computer science, civil engineering and electrical and computer engineering. The CGISR contains an instructional lab with 40 workstations configured with ArcGIS 8.3, ERDAS Imagine 8.6, GeoMedia, AutoCAD 2002, PathFinder Office, and Microstation. The CGISR is dedicated to bridging traditional investigative methodologies with GIS/RS technologies for interdisciplinary research..
