General questions about graduation requirements, applying for graduation and deadlines are available on the Registrar’s Office web site.
At the end of the spring quarter, if you have 8 or less units remaining please visit the Commencement Participation web site.
Specific questions about graduation requirements, such as remaining classes an individual student needs to take, should be addressed to the individual’s evaluator in the Registrar’s Office.
Individuals eligible to participate in the 2015 commencement ceremony are Summer 2014, Fall 2014, Winter 2014 graduates; Spring 2015 Applicants, and approved Early Commencement Participation applicants who have paid their $56.00 graduation fee.
Eligibility to participate in the commencement ceremonies will again be verified at commencement check-in. To maintain the integrity of the ceremonies, students that cannot be verified at check-in will be asked to complete and sign a Commencement Participation Form, with the understanding that they will be subject to a $200.00 fee if found to be ineligible to participate.

It is highly recommended to purchase your cap and gown in advance for proper fitting. Limited quantities and sizes of caps and gowns are available at the Campus Center Marketplace on June 12 through 14, starting about two hours prior to each ceremony.
These caps and gowns are the ONLY outer attire allowed for graduates. It is not an all-weather garment; inclement weather may damage clothing worn underneath. The attire is all black and warm, plan accordingly for your clothing underneath gown.
A gold cord worn around the neck of the gown signifies baccalaureate graduation with academic honors. Cal Poly Pomona grants honors upon graduation to students who have demonstrated academic excellence throughout their undergraduate careers.
Those receiving master's degrees are not eligible for honors.
Honors apply to undergraduate students who graduate with an overall grade point average of at least 3.50. Spring Quarter candidates must have had a minimum overall GPA of 3.50 based on Winter Quarter grades. Everyone who earns honors at graduation will have that designation noted on their diploma. The honors are:
- Summa Cum Laude: 3.80 - 4.00
- Magna Cum Laude: 3.65 - 3.79
- Cum Laude: 3.50 - 3.64
Honors cords, which are available for no additional fee, may be obtained at the Registrar's Office beginning May 18th, 2015. Photo identification is required to obtain a cord and they will not be issued to those who are "early commencement participants." For questions about honors cords, please call 909-869-3000.
Share your good news with family and friends with graduation announcements. This year both generic and personalized announcement will be offered by Jostens.
Studio 94 Photography is Cal Poly Pomona's senior portrait specialist. The studio will take 5 images in professional attire and 5 in cap & gown. To make an appointment call (877) 363-9690 or visit www.studio-94.com. Their studio is located in Fullerton.
While we are happy for guests who utilize guide animals to bring their important companions to commencement, it is inappropriate for animals not trained to deal with large crowds, noise, and confusion to be part of the celebration. California State Law prohibits leaving an animal inside a confined vehicle, so for the safety and comfort of the animals and our guests, it is important that pets be left at home http://www.animallaw.info/articles/qvuspetsincars.htm. We’re sorry, but guests who insist on bringing pets to the ceremonies will be asked to leave immediately. No exceptions will be made for graduates or guests, except "service animals required to perform tasks for persons with disabilities."
Participants in commencement ceremonies should be in the designated check-in/line-up area at the time listed below. Pre-printed reader cards will provided at check-in which will allow you to provide us pronounciation of your name, and email address to send you photo proofs. Check-in at the registration tents according to your last name, complete your card, and then line-up by major. Hold on to your card as you will present the card to a stage assistant just prior to a professional reader reading your name, as you go on stage to receive your diploma cover.

Professional photographers will take three photos of each graduate. Two are posed photos just prior to ascending the stage, while the third is as the graduate shakes hands on stage. The photographer is positioned just off-stage for the perfect shot of your graduate's proud moment. Proofs will be mailed to each graduate shortly after the ceremony to be considered for purchase. You do not need to sign up for this service in advance; every candidate and graduate will have their photograph taken on stage. There is no obligation to purchase any of these photos.
