Summer Pettus joined The Collins College of Hospitality Management in September 2010. As Student Services Coordinator, Summer’s work includes: coordinating the college’s ongoing student co-curricular events and functions; student outreach, recruitment and orientation; acting as the general hospitality industry liaison, and managing student scholarships.
As a 2006 graduate of The Collins College, Summer brings a vested interest and enthusiasm in promoting the college and helping students. As a student, she was very active in the program as a student leader and recipient of several student scholarships including Network of Executive Women in Hospitality and Hotel and Restaurant Foundation. In 2003, Summer worked on Cal Poly Pomona’s main campus as an Orientation Leader where she gained experience and a wealth of knowledge about the university and student life.
Upon graduation, Summer began her career in hospitality management at The Valley Hunt Club in Pasadena, Calif., an exclusive member-owned social club. As the club events coordinator she was responsible for events such as the club’s Tournament of Roses Celebration, large themed parties, wine dinners, and prominent guest speaker events. In 2008, she continued her career as the catering director at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, one of the world’s most active sailing venues. At St. Francis, she planned and executed more than 300 events a year including corporate events, weddings, non-profit charities and galas, and sporting events. During her professional career, she was an active member of the National Association of Catering Executives of the Bay Area and the Golden State Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America.
