Since the college launched its alumni outreach program and the Collins Hospitality Society board reformed in 2008, there have been many local and out-of-state events. This page gives a snapshot of those activities.
The Collins HospitalitySociety presents the 5th Annual Wine Dinner, hosted by Russ Bendel, '05. The evening will feature hors d'oeuvres and a fabulous four-course meal with custom wine pairings for each dish at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Newport Beach.
Tickets are $65 for society members and $75 for non-members.
Space is limited to 40 people, and it's first-come, first-served. This event sells out each year so be sure to make your reservations early.
Proceeds from this event will support the Collins Hospitality Society's alumni outreach efforts.

On March 23, 2013, the Southern California hospitality industry gathered to honor Caroline Beteta, president and CEO of Visit California, with the Robert Mondavi Wine & Food Award during Hospitality Uncorked 2013. The Collins College partnered with PKF Consulting to offer the 2012 Southern California Visitor Industry Outlook Conference, an informative event on the regional travel industry at the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Noted experts, representing a range of travel sectors offered their best assessment of the economic situation and how it may impact businesses.

Several Collins College alumni and students participatedin a speed networking event for students at the Buca di Beppo in Claremont at 6:30 p.m. The event is designed to expose students to a variety of career options and paths in the hospitality industry. Outside of Southern California, the Bay Area is home to our largest community of alumni. We saw several Bay Area alumni on Oct. 12 during a mixer at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco. Our gracious host was Alumnus Ron Banaszak '95, the general manager/COO of the club.
The Collins Hospitality Society’s 4th annual Alumni in the Outfield took place on Aug. 10 at Angel Stadium. Fifty alumni and friends enjoyed a pre-game mixer starting at OC Sports Grill, free T-shirt and a Big Bang Friday firework show.
About 20 graduating seniors and master's graduates enjoyed a special reception to celebrate their achievement and to officially commemorate their induction into the Collins Hospitality Society.

Scholarship Classic was held at the Hacienda Golf Club in La Habra Heights. All proceeds from the tournament supported The Collins Hospitality Society Scholarship Endowment, which provides scholarships to Collins students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence. The Collins College of Hospitality Management and the Southern California hospitality industry honored sbe Founder and CEO Sam Nazarian at Hospitality Uncorked on March 3 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live. More than $200,000 was raised to support The Collins College. This was a sold-out event with 600 tickets sold. To encourage alumni to attend, the college offered discounted tickets to members of the Collins Hospitality Society. Photos of the night are posted on Google+ and Facebook.
40 alumni enjoyed a breakfast mixer with the CHS before attending the college’s career expo. Dr. Edward Merritt led a lively discussion about preparing for job interviews, and alumnus Andrew Segal, of Panera Bread, provided the refreshments. Photos of the event are posted on Facebook.

The Collins College of Hospitality Management Alumni Chapter hosted 75 friends and alumni on Aug. 19 for the 3nd annual Alumni in the Outfield at Angel Stadium and a pre-game party at OC Sport Grill. Everyone received a free T-shirt and enjoyed spectacular post-game fireworks.
The Collins Hospitality Society hosted it's first annual Scholarship Classic on Friday, June 3 at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena. Alumni and industry partners gathered to support the society in raising funds to create a scholarship endowment with the college to provide undergraduate scholarships to current students. Chicago area alumni from several different colleges joined The Collins College for an evening of networking at Hotel Felix, one of Chicago’s most noted sustainable hotels. Collins College Alumna Eva Wassermann, Roger Hill and Andy Feinstein, Dean of The Collins College of Hospitality Management hosted the event.
Collins College alumni were invited back to campus to guest lecture in classes that relate to their professions during Professor For A Day. Sixteen Collins alumni participated in the event covering subject areas such as front desk operations, mulit-unit restaurant management and information technology. The event included a lunch for participating faculty and alumni at The Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch.

The Collins Hospitality Society hosted a sold- out event for alumni, faculty and staff to the 3rd annual Fleming's Wine Dinner Fundraiser, hosted by Russ Bendel, Jr. ’05. The fundraiser dinner wasl held again at Bendel’s Newport Beach Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Proceeds from this event support scholarships for Collins College students and alumni networking events and outreach. An exquisite menu designed by Chef Chris Hutten included hors d’oeuvres and a four-course dinner with wine pairings.

Alumni were invited to attend The Collins College of Hospitality Management’s 2011 Richard N. Frank Distinguished Lectureship Series featuring Barbara Hollkamp, Hilton Worldwide’s senior vice president of human resources, on Jan. 28, 2011 at 1 p.m. She shared stories from her notable career, trends in human resources and insights into Hilton Worldwide during a 45-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute Q&A in the college’s Wine Auditorium. Dean Andy Feinstein hosted the 3rd Annual NYC Alumni Mixer on Monday, Nov. 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis, at 1535 Broadway, New York City. The event attracted about 30 alumni who live in the Tristate area or were in town for the International Hotel, Motel & Restaurant Show in Manhattan.
The Collins College of Hospitality Management honored three exceptional leaders in the hospitality industry while raising funds to support students inside and outside the classroom during Harvest Celebration 2010 on Nov. 13. The annual gala took place at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa at 6:30 p.m. Chip Conley, founder and CEO of Joie de Vivre Hospitality, will receive the Hospitality Leader of the Year Award; Steele Platt, chairman and founder of Yard House Restaurants, Inc., will be honored with the Robert Mondavi Wine & Food Award; and Michele Gendreau, director of Food and Beverage for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, will receive the college’s Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award.

More than 150 people gathered for a special installment of the Frank Lectureship featuring Jim Collins and the 20th anniversary celebration of the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch on Oct. 5. Alumni, faculty, staff and student club leaders first gathered in the Wine Auditorium for the featured discussion, which was moderated by Dr. Edward Merritt, and then moved to the RKR to commemorate the anniversary. Jim Collins shared stories from his career, his philanthropic history and secrets to his success. Cal Poly Pomona alumni were cordially invited to an Alumni Champagne Reception on Sunday, May 23 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at Hotel Felix, 111 W. Huron Street in Downtown Chicago. The college honored Collins College of Hospitality Management Professor Dr. Jerry Chesser for being inducted into the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's College of Diplomates. The event was free and hosted by Andy Feinstein, dean of The Collins College, and Alumna Eva Wassermann '86 and her husband Roger Hill.

Alumnus and Fleming’s Operating Partner Russ Bendel, Jr. hosted, marking this dinner the alumni chapter’s key fund-raising event for the year. More than 40 people attended.

More than 50 people came out and enjoyed a day at the ballpark with alumni on Friday, Aug. 7, during The Collins College Alumni Chapter’s first Alumni in the Outfield at Anaheim Stadium.

The Collins College Alumni Chapter held its first Bay Area event on Thursday, July 30 at the St. Francis Yacht Club - On The Marina. Alumnus Ronald Banaszak, Jr., CCM, General Manager/COO of the club generously hosted the bay-side event. Dean Andy Feinstein, who was in San Francisco attending the I-CHRIE conference, gave a presentation about The Collins College of Hospitality Management, which is on the cusp of a major expansion. Feinstein also discussed plans to launch the state's first master's in hospitality management program and the university's award-winning Horsehill Vineyards wine.
Calling all Parrotheads - the alumni chapter got a group together for a Jimmy Buffet concert on May 21, 2009 at the Irvine Wireless Amphitheater.
