Barbara Jean Bruin, C.H.E., is from New Orleans, Louisiana. She has an A.A. from Fullerton College, a B.S. in Hotel, Restaurant & Travel from Cal Poly Pomona and an MBA from University of La Verne. Since l992 she has been a Lecturer at The Collins College of Hospitality Management and currently teaches HRT 383 Food & Beverage Practicum in The Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch.
Her industry experience is in the restaurant field. Her parents owned a white tablecloth fine dining restaurant in Metairie, Louisiana a suburb of New Orleans, where she worked in all aspect of the business. She moved to California in l980 where she continued in the restaurant field. She was a General Manager for Cask n’ Cleaver Organization in their Cerritos, Orange and Corona properties.
She was very active in the Cerritos Chamber of Commerce where she was on the Board of Directors, Ambassador Chairperson and was awarded the 1991 Business Person of the Year. She was the Alumni President for the Hotel, Restaurant & Travel Department of the School of Business from 1985-l989.
She is the alumni faculty advisor for The Collins College and formerly the Cal Poly Alumni Association Internal Vice President.
She is joyfully married to Marcel and enjoys traveling. Her personal philosophy is everything is possible with a positive attitude.
