Dr. Jeffrey N. Brown is an Associate Professor with The Collins College of Hospitality Management at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. The Hospitality Management program at the Collins College is the largest of its type in California and is consistently ranked as one of the top three hospitality management programs in the United State. Prior to teaching at Cal Poly Pomona, Dr. Brown was on the faculty of the Hotel Restaurant Management Program at Georgia Southern University, a leading institution in the southeastern United States. Dr. Brown has also held the position of Dean of Faculty for Pennsylvania Culinary, the third largest professional culinary school in the United States.
A foodservice professional for nearly thirty years, Dr. Brown's professionalism and culinary expertise has been recognized by the American Culinary Federation's endorsement as Culinary Educator of the Year, 1995, and as a Certified Executive Chef (CEC) and Certified Culinary Educator (CCE). He has also been recognized by the National Restaurant Association as a Foodservice Management Professional (FMP). These designations come from a combination of professional experience and formal education.
Dr. Brown is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Restaurant Management from Webber College, a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from West Virginia University and a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) in Curriculum Theory at Georgia Southern University.
Highlights of his professional career include positions as Personal Chef to HRH King Hussein of Jordan and the royal family; general and district manager of the Velvet Turtle restaurants, a white table cloth, fine dining division of the SAGA Corporation; Foodservice Director for Cal Poly Pomona; Chef-Instructor at Johnson & Wales University, Charleston, South Carolina; and Foodservice Director for West Virginia University.
