Mark Burden

Senior Vice President
Rim Hospitality

Background Information

Mark Burden, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Rim Corporation, co-founded the company in 1983 with his brother, Jim Burden. Twenty-six years later, the brothers have assembled a team of dedicated professionals who represent 10 master brands – and many more sub-brands – of hotels throughout the United States and Canada.

Skilled in negotiating acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures as well as financing and overseeing the firm’s growth, Mark has mastered the “art of the deal,” building the company’s portfolio to position Rim Hospitality as an industry leader committed to achieving top results for all stakeholders. Among the landmarks of his leadership is a proprietary, state-of-the-art software system unique to the hotel industry in its ability to provide comprehensive real-time data and monitor critical operations such as guest service scores, expenses, accounts receivable and more. Such advances show up in the bottom line for property owners.

Prior to founding The Rim Corporation, Mark was General Partner and Contractor for Fourth Leaf Developers, an industrial complex construction firm, and was a Regional Representative for Cessna Finance Corporation.

Mark Burden is a frequent guest speaker at hotel industry conferences and leadership panels.  He is honored to sit on the Board of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, as well as the Marriott Courtyard Advisory Board. He has served with many hotel and real estate associations as well as volunteer organizations including Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Stanislaus County, the Center for Human Services, Modesto Symphony Orchestra Board, and the Memorial Hospital Foundation. He was a proud recipient of the United Way Leadership Award.

With his wife, Joy, Mark has two daughters, Alexandria and Hillary. Time away from the office finds him indulging his passions for golf and travel as well as reading or gardening.
