Winny Dong, Professor
Areas of Interest
Winny is dedicated to serving the diverse population of Cal Poly Pomona and worked to bring various grants, totaling over $9 million, to increase participation by under-represented groups in science and engineering. In addition, Winny remains active in research and has been funded by NASA/JPL, Department of Energy, American Chemical Society, among others for her scientific work. For her research, Winny works exclusively with undergraduate students and over the past 11 years, has been the primary research advisor for 41 undergraduate students, 32 of them being either females or under-represented minorities (16 were minority females). Currently, Winny is the primary research advisor for 10 students, of which 9 are females or under-represented minorities.
Winny is currently the Director of the McNair Scholars Program, the Director of Projects and Undergraduate Research for the College of Engineering, a Co-PI on an NSF STEP grant to increase graduation rates in STEM, and serves on the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation’s Executive Board.
