The California Land Surveyors Association was founded in 1966 to advance the interests of the profession of Land Surveying, to maintain the highest possible standards of professional ethics and practice, to encourage uniformity of practices and procedures, and foster public faith in and understanding of land surveyors and their work.

Cal Poly Pomona is one of only 3 ABET accredited programs west of the Mississippi River offering a geospatial or surveying option to a Civil Engineering Major. The geospatial engineering option includes a range of civil engineering coursework, with an emphasis in surveying, remote sensing, photogrammetry, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS). This option prepares students to ultimately become licensed civil engineers and licensed land surveyors, and thus is especially attractive for those who intend to become land development engineers.
