Construction Engineering Technology

Program Outcomes are designed to meet the ABET/TAC Criteria (www.abet.org) http://abet.org/forms.shtml#For_Technology_Programs_Only , these were developed originally as part of the TAC/ABET visit of 1999, updated for 2005

The program has adopted the TC2K Criteria 1 outcomes listed below in addition to the list of outcomes for the Construction Engineering Technology program required by TAC/ABET.

The Criteria 1 outcomes are items A to K listed below and are required of all Engineering Technology programs; and the Construction Engineering Technology program outcomes are items L to Z.

These outcomes are skills that the students are expected to achieve upon graduation.

 A. Demonstrate an appropriate mastery of the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of their disciplines.

B. Apply current knowledge and adapt to emerging applications of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology.

C. Conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments and apply experimental results to improve processes.

D. Apply creativity in the design of systems, components, or processes appropriate to program objectives.

E. Function effectively on teams.

F. Identify, analyze, and solve technical problems.

G. Communicate effectively.

H. Recognize the need for and possess the ability to pursue lifelong learning.

I. Understand professional, ethical, and social responsibilities.

J. Recognize contemporary professional, societal, and global issues and are aware of and respect diversity.

K. Have a commitment to quality, timeliness and continuous improvement. 

The following are the criteria required by TAC/ABET specifically for the Construction Engineering Technology program. The accreditation board requires that the students obtain knowledge in the following areas: 

L.  Construction contracts, documents, specifications and codes.

M. Construction methods and materials.N. Construction surveying.

O.  Statics and strength of materials

P. Material quantity and cost estimates of projects, and crew efficiency

Q. Productivity software to solve technical problems.

R. Construction accounting and cost control

S. Engineering economics

T. Construction law and ethics.

U. Hydraulics.

V. Soils and foundations.

W. Primavera Project Planner, scheduling and project management.

X. Construction safety.

Y. Structural design

Z. Concrete mix design and testing
