GEMS Club

GEMS (Gender, Ethnicity, and Multicultural Studies) Club exists to create a safe space for Cal Poly Pomona students by welcoming anyone regardless of their identities. In this space we educate each other and the campus about social justice/community issues and work together to create a better future for those to come. We host film screenings, fundraisers, and guest speakers for anyone interested about social justice causes on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A GEMS MAJOR TO JOIN!

Things we are planning for the 2013-2014 academic year:

  • This year we will be participating at BroncoFusion, CPP Day at the Fair, Dia de Los Muertos hosted by the Chavez center.
  • We will also be holding "How to Get Into Grad School Workshops" as well as "Self -Care" Workshops to help and give tips on how to stay healthy mentally, emotionally, and physically during the college process.
  • During Fall quarter we are going to have a GEMS mixer. The date for that is Oct.3. It's going to be a introduction to the club and major for anyone who is interested. The time will be at u-hour. Location is TBA.
  • Also during Fall Quarter, GEMS Club will be having off-campus fundraisers at Buffalo Wild Wings and Yogurtland but location, exact date, and time are still TBA.
