Dr. Roby’s research interests include implementation of successful active learning and group collaboration opportunities in online teaching and learning environments; effective educational uses of collaborative, innovative,  and Web 2.0 technologies; the identification of elements of successful online teaching and learning processes; inclusion of culture as a pedagogical philosophy; and the use of multiple instructional design models during development of course content.  Dr. Roby is the founder of the OPUS Collective, an online, openly accessible, searchable repository of culture-rich, curriculum-linked stories created through digital media.
